Boathouse Capital and Cal Net Acquire Velocity Network Solutions

Cal Net Technology Group, (“Cal Net”), a Boathouse Capital portfolio company, announced last week that it has completed the acquisition of Velocity Network Solutions, (“Velocity”). Cal Net is actively seeking additional add-on acquisition opportunities to further build the platform.

Cal Net Technology Group, the premier provider of IT services, cloud capabilities, infrastructure design and implementation, security services, and unified communications to the Southern California SMB market, has announced the acquisition of Velocity Network Solutions and its addition to the Cal Net family. With this investment Cal Net extends its capabilities for service, technical depth, and reliability to Velocity’s clients by leveraging one of the largest and most skilled group of technical resources in Southern California.

“With the addition of Velocity Network Solutions to the Cal Net family, we further our position as the premier provider of IT services in the Los Angeles and Orange County region. Cal Net boasts the deepest and most experienced technical bench of any SMB player in the market and continues to bring best-in-class service expertise to our current and future clients,” stated Brian Kreiner, Cal Net’s Chief Executive Officer.

Thad Gerber, founder of Velocity Network Solutions, remarked “Our clients require an extremely high level of service, so it is important to continue to improve and mature our offering. As Velocity grew, we saw the advantages of teaming up with another highly skilled IT company. By joining Cal Net we ensure our clients receive highly attentive, hands-on support along with the high-level expertise necessary to efficiently solve all technical issues.”

Luca Jacobellis, Cal Net’s President, added, “The Velocity team further expands our fixed-fee remote offerings, bringing a well-respected team and mature managed services solution to add to our current platform. Our philosophies align as the two groups combine deep technical expertise with remarkable customer service to ensure the highest level of support. We look forward to continuing to provide our best-in-class offerings to businesses in the Southern California region.”

“The acquisition of Velocity helps position Cal Net as one of the strongest MSP providers in an extremely fragmented and growing market,” said Bill Dyer, Partner at Boathouse Capital.

Cal Net has earned the distinction of Microsoft’s 2013 & 2014 Southwest Region Partner of the Year, is Los Angeles Business Journal’s 2014 CIO Award’s IT Partner of the Year award, a Microsoft Gold Partner, and ShoreTel Gold Partner. The group has been named to the MSP Mentor’s top 50 providers in North America, CRN Magazine’s Fast Growth 150 List, and is an Inc. 5000 6 time honoree.

Together, the team plans to continue its rapid growth of the business and enhance its services to its customer base, recruiting additional sales and engineering staff, introducing new product and service offerings, and increasing its depth and expertise in its end-markets of focus in current and new territories.
